In Upper Savinja Valley, about halfway between Ljubljana and Maribor, lies Ljubno, which opens the way to the most beautiful Alpine glacial valleys in Europe - Logarska Valley. Once known for rafting, which can be admired every year at the traditional Raftsmen bal event, today Ljubno is famous in Slovenia and across the world as the venue of women's ski jumping events.
As the first organizer of the women's Continental Cup, Ljubno made an enormous step forward in raising the international recognition of this sport. In February 2012, Ljubno ob Savinji witnessed a historical event, when outstanding organizers were responsible for the first two Women's Ski Jumping World Cup events. Records were broken as much in the lenght of the jumps made on Ljubno's beautiful ski jump, as well as in the number of loud supporters, whose number far exceeded the 6,000 mark.
